WITEA Spring Conference

March 6-8, 2025

The WITEA Spring Conference has been called, “The best professional development I have ever experienced in my time as a teacher”. The conference sessions are created for teachers by teachers and the best practices that you learn are invaluable.

This event is an excellent way to learn what’s working in classrooms across the state, and many of the ideas can be taken back to the classroom and implemented the next day.

By sharing the great things we are doing in our classrooms, we prove that together we are stronger and better teachers. Join us!

This hands-on collaborative pre-conference session will focus on contextualized science, math, and English language arts activities you can use in your Core Plus construction classes. Come ready to be active, share ideas, and build community with your fellow sawdust makers.

Dive head-first into the science of welding! No matter your skill level or experience with welding, you’ll leave more confident with machine set-up, basic electrical theory, thermal dynamics, metallurgy, and lots more.

Orthographic Projections and Aerospace Assembly: Join us for a one-day workshop centered around aerospace assembly drawings and orthographic projections. Immerse yourself in hands-on exercises and develop skills in translating three-dimensional objects onto a two-dimensional plane—a vital skill for all aerospace applications. Learn to interpret and use assembly drawings effectively, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and smooth manufacturing processes. Engage in a collaborative assembly project, working with other attendees to put together mock aerospace assemblies. This practical exercise mirrors real-world challenges faced in aerospace assembly scenarios, providing valuable experience. This workshop is a great occasion to learn skills you can pass onto students, whether they are looking to enter the aerospace industry or for more general manufacturing opportunities. Don't miss out on refining your proficiency in orthographic projections and the practical use of assembly drawings in aerospace assembly.

Learn and experience how the exciting and engaging world of indoor remote-control First Person View micro-drones can be a part of STEM project-based learning. Using lesson modules and resources from Flite Test STEM, participants will learn micro-drone vocabulary, safety considerations, flight operations, as well as micro-drone obstacle/race course design challenges to engage both you and your students. You will leave this training with a First Person View micro-drone, transmitter, goggles, and race/obstacle track elements, and several FT STEM micro-drone lesson models (each encompassing at least 2-3 weeks of instruction) to guide you in the classroom.

Epoxy Molds

Instructor: Matthew Duerre

A general run-through of common epoxy projects and methods, tips and tricks, and sourcing materials. Then doing a demonstration in action, followed by letting the attendees do a set of coasters. If attendees want to bring objects to float in the epoxy they can bring their own trinkets like dried flowers, etc.
